6th Grade ELA Homework 5/20/13-5/23/13

MONDAY

Reading:  Read for 30 minutes. Complete the Vocabulary Review by circling the best word for each sentence.

Writing: Using the provided word bank, complete the sentences using the appropriate word choice.
TUESDAY

Reading: Match the quote with the character who spoke it. Then, choose one of the quotes and analyze it. Lastly, put the quote into your own words.

Writing: Complete your paragraph on Shakespeare that we started in class.

WEDNESDAY

Reading/Writing: Read for 30 minutes. Then, choose 3 of the 5 characters listed and discus their motivations throughout Macbeth.

Characters to choose from: The Three Witches, Macbeth, Lady Macbeth, Banquo, The Murderers

THURSDAY

Reading: Read for 30 minutes.

Writing: Picking a topic of your choice, create a quick outline and a paragraph.

Reading: Read for 30 minutes. In your reading, discuss anything that influenced and motivated your character ( or any of your characters). Cite evidence from the text to support your answer.

Writing: Write an outline that focuses on what influences and motivates Harriet Tubman.

Wednesday:

Reading: Read for 30 minutes. Next, complete the vocabulary review. Lastly, using the list of common themes found in literature, circle all the themes that were found in Romeo and Juliet, and box all the themes that were found in West Side Story.

Writing: Take your  paragraph from last night that focuses on what influences and motivates Harriet Tubman and make the necessary edits that were outlined (appositives, conjunctions, transitions, and descriptive language).

Thursday:

Reading: Read for 30 minutes. Also, read the assigned passage and complete the questions,

Writing: Continue revising your paragraph on what influences and motivates Harriet Tubman.
